Leighlin’s winning run was halted abruptly in Rathvilly Tuesday night
as the home side romped to a ten point victory.
Rathvilly had 1-1 on the board within minutes of the off before Mick
Nevin got Leighlin going with a free.
Rathvilly added two more points but Leighlin were
handed a lifeline when Lee Conran audaciously chipped the keeper
soccer style on 25 minutes and impressive midfielder Sean Brennan
cut the gap to a point before the break as Leighlin trailed
1-3 to 1-2 at half time.
Conran had Leighlin level shortly after the restart but Rathvilly
blitzed into a 2-9 to 1-3 lead by the end of the third quarter with
Stephen Murphy nailing the game changing goal.
Conran and Adrian Flames Dermody got two late scores but that
was as good as it got as Rathvilly cruised to a ten point win.
