Leighlin lost out in round 2 of Div 3 football league on Tuesday night,
against a Tullow side who simply ran riot in the first half.
The visitors were ahead in the space of a minute with their first goal
of the night, and although Val Fleming notched two points, it
was one way traffic for the remainder of the half with Eoin O Toole
and county man Jack Kennedy adding further goals, to which
Leighlin could only add two more points from David Kehoe and
Conor Nolan, with Tullow ahead 3-8 to 0-4 at the break.
It was a much improved second half from the home side, with
Fleming adding three further scores along with another from
sub Brian Kavanagh to claw back the deficit.
Tullow got motoring again though and Jack Kennedy continued to
cause problems, and their lead was never going to be lost.
Another veteran sub Mick Nevin was introduced and he
helped himself to three points, which should help him claim
a starting spot the next day.
Credit to Leighlin, they outscored Tullow 0-7 to 0-5 in the 2nd half,
however they still lost heavily by double scores, 3-13 to 0-11.
