Leighlinbridge 0-7 Grange 1-9

 

The All Blacks first string began there season by falling to Grange in

Division 3 of the Carlow Senior Football League at Grange On

Tuesday night.

 

Leighlin started with the aid of a stiff breeze , but

failed to use it to their advantage, registering only three points in a

half where they shot 9 wides.

 

They did start reasonably well and led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes

with Lee Conran (2) and Val Fleming knocking over scores.

 

They would not score again for the remainder of the half

and County Minor Cathal Bailey had Grange back level before,

an injury time goal from Seamus Hegarty gave Grange a 1-3

to 0-3 Half Time lead.

 

The third quarter belonged to Grange with Bailey pointing a further

three times along with a Paddy Hickey point and all Leighlin

could muster up was a Val Fleming point from play.

 

Fleming did add another moments later from a free, but Bailey and

Fionn Murphy streched the lead to 1-9 to 0-5 with 50 mins played.

 

Leighlin fought to the bitter end though as Fleming and David Kehoe

both pointed but it was too late and Leighlin lost out by five points.
